Founded in 1972 by Richard Branson, Virgin Records quickly became one of the most influential record labels of its time, launching the careers of artists like Mike Oldfield, the Sex Pistols, and Culture Club. This early sheet of stationery features the original logo (in colour here), designed by British illustrator Roger Dean—best known for his album covers for bands like Yes. It remained in use until 1978, when it was tragically replaced by the now-iconic red Virgin logo.
